A vision of a sustainable curriculum

a sustainable school integrates all aspects of its curriculum with the community, its resources and the environment

An exciting new project has been launched by a group of teachers from the London Sustainable Schools Forum.  Students in every national curriculum subject from selected schools across London will create a sustainable, healthy, sports drink for the Olympics. The aim of this project is to illustrate how a sustainable schools framework can add real value to the school curriculum.

The project is launched with a 'think-piece' that proposes a vision of a more connected curriculum which embeds sustainability at its core. This model combines the best of primary and secondary schools: the whole school learning approach championed by primary schools and the deep subject knowledge of secondary schools.

The sustainable, healthy, sports drink project will aim to show that a sustainable school is most effective when it integrates all aspects of its curriculum with the community, its resources and the environment.

We hope that our vision for a sustainable curriculum will be accessible, manageable and useful. We also hope that our project will inspire other sustainable curriculum projects.
